Temeraire, Laurence & Temeraire
I've been rereading this series recently and I love Laurence and Temeraire and their relationship so much. I love Laurence's devotion to doing what he feels is right (and the way he so often comes in conflict with himself because of it), I love the way he acts always by his duty to his subordinates & both duty and love for Temeraire... I love Temeraire's real if sometimes offskew-from-humans moral convictions, and his cleverness and tendency to question things, and his love for Laurence. I'd love anything with the two of them, and I'm happy to have other characters thrown in as well--hanging out with Tharkay post-canon, or doing politics, I'd love to see something with Perscitia, or with Admiral Roland or her daughter (the thing where Laurence's family thinks Emily is his daughter always cracks me up), or on the other hand if you wanted to do a missing scene from the books I'd love that too... Fundamentally as long as you've got Laurence and Temeraire in there, I'm sure I'll love it! :D
I wanted to add a note on the setting--I DNW'd mundane AUs (...what would that even look like, with Temeraire...?), but not setting AUs--fundamentally of course the series is pretty grounded in its setting, but if you wanted to do a space AU, or relocate the characters to another historical period or something, I'd love that too.
Spinning Silver, Miryem and/or Irina and/or Wanda and/or Mirnatius
I chose "my gift must feature one or more of my chosen character tags (giver's choice)", and I meant it; I'd love anything that focused on any of these characters, or any combination of these characters.
Some suggestions if you'd like them--I'd love to see more of Miryem with her grandfather, or alternatively Irina interacting with Miryem's grandfather would be fascinating. I'd really love to see more of Miryem and Wanda interacting. Wanda post-canon would be really interesting; I'd love to see Mirnatius' perspective on some of the events of the book, or Mirnatius and Irina post-canon... Basically I'd love anything with any of them :D
Scholomance, Aadhya
Aadhya is my favourite side character in the Scholomance. I'd love anything from her perspective--pre-canon, when she's getting ready to go to the Scholomance, or when she's deciding to be fair to El despite El's "raininess", on her mother's advice, or just going about her life in the Scholomance; or during canon, as she starts deciding to make the alliance offer to El and Liu, or when they're working on getting out of the Scholomance, or her relationship with her mouse Pinky and her building the wheels and tunnels on the wall for him, or after they get out of the Scholomance and reuniting with her family, or when El's out of contact after they get out, or when they're rescuing Liu; or post-canon, I'd really love to see more of her and her family, or her and El and Liu hanging out.
Some notes: whatever you do, I'd really love to see her thinking of/remembering her dead sister, if it fits with the story. Unrelatedly, I find the cultural strength of Scholomance alliances fascinating, and I'd love anything that explores the strength of that connection especially if you're going post-Scholomance.
The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal, Robert Caldwell, Simon Feximal
I think this is my favourite KJ Charles book! I love the structure of the repeated cases, and Simon and Robert are great together. I'd love some casefic, or alternatively some time of them relaxing together. If you want to do an alternate meetup, that could be fun too! I'm very happy for all kinds of fandom tropes for these two XD I'm absolutely open to something during the war, if you want to go grim, or I'd love something post-canon when they've faked their deaths too. Basically anything with these two! :D
Think of England, Archie Curtis & Daniel da Silva
Curtis and Daniel, on the other hand, are my favourite KJ Charles pairing! I love that Daniel's an actual Jewish character, I love his courage even as he hates physical violence, his cleverness, his skill at adopting various personas, his poetry and his appreciation of Curtis' appreciation of his poetry, his determination to survive in a world that hates him for being everything they think he shouldn't. I love Curtis' determination to find the truth and his unexpected appreciation of poetry and the way his understanding of the world and what is right gradually changes over the course of the book, and even his lunatic temper lol. I'd like anything with the two of them post-canon--another adventure, or some domestic scenes together would be really lovely. Alternatively: Curtis and Daniel do murder mystery? Or if you wanted to write them in another historical setting, or a fantasy AU, or a space AU or something, go for it.
